Ericka Sutton, born with a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Charcot-Marie-Tooth Type X, had been an athlete on a few power wheelchair soccer teams. She later took on the roles of team manager and team representative. Eventually Noreen Sutton caught the power soccer fan fever and became Assistant Coach then ultimately landed the position of Head Coach. With the passion for creating outlets in the community for individuals with disabilities to capitalize on social independence, the Sutton’s dream of creating their own power wheelchair soccer team became a reality. In 2008 Royalty Power Soccer (RPS) was born and became official members of the sport’s governing body, United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA). Ericka also served as the first ever elected Secretary on the USPSA Executive Board from 2006-2010.

The Royalty Power Soccer team made the following accomplishments:

  • 2nd Place Finishers at the 2008 Lakeshore Tournament (Birmingham, AL)
  • Held 1st Annual Want-2-Roll Competition in May 2009 (Atlanta, GA)
  • 2nd Place Finishers at the 2009 1st Annual Want-2-Roll Competition (Atlanta, GA)
  • 2nd Place Finishers at the 2009 USPSA Eastern Regional Division II Tournament (Suwanee, GA)
  • 7th Place Division II Finisher at the 2009 USPSA National Tournament (Indiana)
  • Placing and winning the bid to host the 2010 USPSA Eastern Regional Division II Tournament (Norcross, GA)
  • Placing and winning the bid for the 2011 USPSA Premier Conference Cup (RPS hosted the top 10 teams in the United States.) (Norcross, GA)

That was only the beginning!

In 2012 Emosah Foundation was created with the belief that building relationships in the community is extremely imperative in society. It is particularly essential that individuals know that safe and non-judgmental environments do exist.

Emosah Foundation operates programs that are dedicated to making a difference in the everyday lives of people with and without disabilities of all ages from all different walks and rolls of life. Our programs were created to provide experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. We want to empower those who we serve to be independent and to leave with the knowledge that they are able to create a rich and engaging life for themselves!
